‘Shall We Gather at the River’ | Broad Street Review

Have a look at what composer Kile Smith wrote for Broad Street Review after our time together with the Helena Symphony.

Kile was the composer in residence there and I had the distinct pleasure of singing his beautiful Psalm 46 for Symphony, Chorus and Baritone solo as well as Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs, the later of which prompted Kile to write this thoughtful piece.

There’s music I like more than Aaron Copland’s “Shall We Gather at the River?” that does not make me cry, so what is the power of this piece?
