Role: Baritone Soloist
Ron will debut with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra as baritone soloist in Sir Michael Tippett’s poignant oratorio, A Child of Our Time.
Ron joins soprano soloist Indra Thomas, who is Grammy nominated for her performance of this piece with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis
Inspired by the events of Kristallnacht, Tippett’s oratorio contextually explores the experiences of oppressed people in general and carries a strongly pacifist message of ultimate understanding and reconciliation. Structured in the manner of Bach’s Passions, the work’s most original feature is Tippett’s use of American spirituals, which carry out the role allocated by Bach to chorales. †
